Scott Wright

Professor Scott Wright is the head black belt and co-owner of the Hawai’i Jiu Jitsu Lab. Scott started his jiu jitsu journey in 2007 under the tutelage of Grandmaster Relson Gracie black & Mark Kurano. Growing up, Scott was bullied, and discovered that jiu jitsu was a positive outlet to overcome those challenges while learning to defend himself &  build self confidence. During his study of jiu jitsu, Scott discovered a passion for the gentle art and would eventually make it his primary profession. In 2021, Scott was promoted to black belt by Professor Kimo Kreis. Since starting his career of teaching, Scott has enriched the lives of thousands of students. Scott’s philosophy is that jiu jitsu is for everyone and he will find the appropriate road for each of his students to travel on.

Tyler Brawner

Tyler Brawner is co-owner and assistant coach of Hawaii Jiu Jitsu Lab. Coach Ty Brawner began training under Grandmaster Relson Gracie in 2005. Ty grew up interested in various styles of martial arts. After extensive Muay Thai training for many years, Ty was introduced to Jiu Jitsu and was immediately hooked and made it his primary martial art focus. When not on the mat, Coach Ty serves the Windward community of the Honolulu Police Department, an honor he has upheld for the last twelve years. Ty’s philosophy for Jiu Jitsu is well reflected in a quote by Aristotle: “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act, but a habit.” He believes Jiu Jitsu teaches you grit, perseverance, and problem-solving, which acts as a catalyst for achieving excellence in all aspects of life.

Jeremy Fleming

Jeremy Fleming is the co-owner and manager of Hawaii Jiu-Jitsu Lab. His journey in Jiu-Jitsu began at K-Team Martial Arts upon his return from Australia in 2012. There, he forged a strong bond with Professor Scott Wright, nurturing their friendship through rigorous training sessions. Presently, Jeremy holds a purple belt, a testament to his dedication under the guidance of Professor Kimo Kries. Growing up with a love for martial arts, Jeremy spent several years practicing Karate and Muay Thai before finding his true passion in Jiu-Jitsu. In his leisure time, he cherishes moments with his loved ones, enjoys weightlifting sessions, and explores new culinary delights across the island.
